Logo and posters for Killing Legends; a band from Seaside Heights. Logo is a hand-drawn custom word mark inspired by Victorian era typography and pirate flags. Posters draw from the aesthetics of punk rock and surf culture that the band is a part of.

We are all a part of the same thing

This is my entry for this year’s Positive Posters competition. I feel that for too long, people have viewed themselves as separate and I wanted to represent a multitude of individuals using the nails, and then coloured string to show how we are all interconnected, and that together, we can make something beautiful.

Over the course of a few weeks in January and February, I created a hand-made typeface using the new Mixel, the new collage app for iPad(http://mixel.cc). The app lets you re-use and even re-crop any piece from any other users collage, which gave me literally hundreds of images to work from that I could alter in any way I chose.

This project started as a test, using the laser cutter at the university to demonstrate its possibilities to the students. And as happy accidents happen, a prototype of the puzzle was produced. Balsa wood modeling panels were used and later colored with walnut wood stain. The typography presented is called PopArt and was born from a logo project I had recently developed and completed. The backside of the puzzle shows an etched membrete with logo, previously created as another experiment.
